It’s the eve before I leave for Walt Disney World for my 6th (I can’t believe I’m still doing this) Dopey Challenge!
Bags are almost packed, race outfits are all prepped, and I’ve got miles and miles of training behind me. This is happening!
So instead of doing a final training recap which would consist of a bunch of easy runs because that’s what taper is all about, I’m doing my race prep blog!

Expo
The health and fitness expo is a love hate thing for me. I really love the IDEA of the expo, browsing vendors and seeing all the cool stuff but it normally turns into me getting my bib and trying to brave the expo floor, getting overwhelmed and getting out of there quickly. This year the plan is just to get my bib and get out of there but I might be drawn to the expo floor, it always lures me in!
Expo hours are:
Wednesday, January 9, 2019 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Thursday, January 10, 2019 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Friday, January 11, 2019 9:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Saturday, January 12, 20199:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Race Goals
This year I’m following my usual plan, keep the 5k easy peasey, run with effort for the 10k (I actually want to run this one really hard and see if I can age place), keep the half fun and easy, and then give the marathon everything i have left. Just take it one race at a time.
I’m also planning to enjoy the parks a bit more trying a schedule of run the race, hurry back to the hotel shower and go to the parks, then go back to the hotel and nap, and then go back to the parks in the evening. Fingers crossed this will work and help me balance park time and race time!
I want to walk away well run, full of Disney, and happy!
What are your race goals? Are you planning to park tour?
