Today is the day!
For the past week, I’ve been lightly stalking the WDW Marathon runDisney page in hopes that we would get a registration date and it’s finally here. I was even starting to put together my training plan for Dopey 2019 last night because I was starting to get antsy to get this on my race calendar!
This morning runDisney posted a blog that not only gives us registration dates but also hints at what this new system might include. Still bummed that the Disneyland races are on hiatus but excited to see runDisney try new things to improve guest experience (which is the hope here!).
First the registration dates:

Aug 7, 2018 – General on-sale date

August 23, 2018 – Pre-sale for Annual Passholders, Disney Vacation Club Members and Golden Oak residents
August 28, 2018 – General on-sale date
2019 Star Wars™ Rival Run Weekend presented by OtterBox (April 4-7, 2019)
August 23, 2018 – Pre-sale for Annual Passholders, Disney Vacation Club Members and Golden Oak residents
August 28, 2018 – General on-sale date
Second some interesting things to highlight from the post:
- “Guests will register for races using their Disney account, creating a more seamless Disney experience” – Since runDisney has already integrated with Photo Pass and the My Disney Experience has matured this looks like the next logically step for runDisney integration.
- “Guests will be able to register multiple participants at a time” – Good news for anyone that’s tried to register family and friends!
- “extra payment options including gift cards will be available” – We all have those family members that give us a Disney Giftcard and tell us to use it to register for a race… well now it looks like you can!
- “Participants registered for the 2018 Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend soon will receive an email with instructions on how to link their current 2018 Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend race registration to their Disney account and runDisney profile.” – It looks like we will get a runDisney account/profile. I’m guessing it will be similar to the Active account we all already have that saves our personal details and payment which makes registering faster but excited to see if they plus the experience!
So follow what the runDisney post says and make sure you are able to log into your Disney account to ensure registration day goes smoothly.
Excited to see if this new integration will allow runDisney to plus other experiences!
