I Run At Disney To Eat At Disney: Disney’s Animal Kingdom Edition

It’s episode 3 in my series of eating-on-a-budget-during-a-runDisney weekend series and we are getting wild at Animal Kingdom! See the other 2 “episodes” here:

I thought this one was going to be easy but it was not. There are a ton of great budget-friendly food options at DAK!

Let’s jump in!

So I just finished up my 10k and I’m ready for a real breakfast, that means Mickey waffles! It’s time to splurge on a Bounty Platter for some post-race fuel!

Bounty Platter w/ Mickey Waffles: $10.99

After eating it’s nap time because we got fastpasses for DAK for the afternoon. After a nap I’ll snack on the Clif bar and banana that I got at the end of the race to get myself going again!

Banana: Free!
Mini-Clif Bar: Free!

Once getting to Animal Kingdom it’s straight to Pandora to use a Flight of Passage FP+ (a girl can dream) followed by lunch at Santu’li Canteen! I’ll get a chicken bowl with a red and sweet potato base and charred green onion vinaigrette.

Chopped Wood-Grilled Chicken Bowl: $11.49

We’ll hop on Navi River Journey before heading out into the rest of the park, definitely hitting up Expedition Everest and then Kilamnjaro Safari. Then it’s time to go back in time to grab a dino on Dinosaur but only after grabbing a mickey pretzel at Dino Bites.

Mickey Pretzel: $5.69

After that it’s probably time to wind down a little bit and so we’ll head to Nomad’s lounge but I’ll just have an espresso (Shade Grown Sumatra Espresso Roast; single origin) and enjoy the atmosphere.

Espresso: $3.99

We’ll then hop on Navi River Journey again and then grab Falafel at Mr. Kamal’s in Asia before getting on Everest a few more times.

Falafel – with tzatziki $5.29

Then it’s time for Rivers of Light (which I really like) and then to head to the hotel because we’ve got more running to do! If I need an evening snack, I’ll grab the Tortilla chips before heading off to dreamland.

Total: $37.45 (with 6% tax $39.70)

That sounds like a tasty tasty day but also wanted to throw out some honorable and budget-friendly mentions:

Mango-Passion Fruit Shaved Ice: $3.99
Chicken Fried Rice Side: $3.90 (Yak and Yeti, it’s a really large portion)
Turkey BLT: $5.29 (from the Smiling Crocodile)
