Time for the second installment of my eating on a budget at WDW during a runDisney race weekend series! Check out my Magic Kingdom day!
Here are the rules:
- I can only spend $40 a day while staying at Pop Century
- I need to eat a balanced diet to fuel my runDisney adventure
- I am assuming this is after the 10k with the half marathon the next day so I will follow my usual Dopey weekend rules (limited alcohol, sweets, ice cream, and other potential stomach up-setters)
- I have a water bottle that I bring to the parks and will refill with water or get free water from quick service locations throughout the day (aka I will not budget for water or drinks)
So it’s Disney Hollywood Studios day which makes some food decisions easier but some harder because of the more limited options. So here we go!
First, before the race I’ll eat an Uncrustables which I bought the night before:
Uncrustable PB&J: $2.99
After the race it’ll be all about getting to DHS ASAP! I’m going to hypothesize that I have a 9:30 FastPass for Slinky Dog Dash but I’ll want to get there as close to park open as I can so that I can knock out all the Toy Story Land attractions in the morning. Since I’ll be moving fast, I’m just going to eat the mini-Clif Bar and banana that I got at the end of the race.
Banana: Free!
Mini-Clif Bar: Free!
Once we’ve (my fiance and I) have ridden at least two of the rides in TSL, we’ll stop for breakfast at Woody’s Lunch Box where we will split the Smoked Turkey Breakfast Sandwich ($7.49) and the S’more French Toast Breakfast Sandwich ($7.99).
Splitting the Sandwiches: $7.74
We’ll then burn off some of the sugar high by riding Toy Story Mania a couple times and on our way out of the land, we’ll stop one more time for a tart from Woody’s Lunch Box.
Chocolate-Hazelnut Lunch Box Tart: $3.29
Now it’s time to head out into the rest of the park, next stop Sunset Blvd and some thrills. After riding Tower of Terror and Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster we’ll head over to Rosie’s and I’ll opt for some basic chicken nuggets.
Chicken Breast Nuggets (8 pieces): $10.49
We’ll swing by Star Tours and maybe hit one more show before heading out of the park. Instead of heading back to the room though, we’ll go over to the Crescent Lake area and decompress. We’ll swing into the new Ale and Compass Market for some sandwiches and eat them while enjoying the ambiance around the lake before heading back to DHS and grabbing a bus back to Pop Century.
Grilled Chicken Panini: $8.49
Once we get to Pop, we’ll swing through the dining area to fill up the refillable mugs and then grab a soft serve ice cream to close out the night:
Soft Serve Ice Cream Cone $4.49
So with that the total comes to…
$37.49 (and w/ 6% tax $39.74)
Not a bad day of theme park fun and lots of tasty food.
