Woo hoo! New state means new races but it also means I’m stressing about choosing the “right” one. I know at the end of the day I’ll enjoy it no matter what, but that doesn’t mean I won’t stress about it up until I say “Screw this” and register.

For my next marathon, my biggest concerns are:
- Do I want to run in Colorado at altitude or run in a state nearby at sea level and benefit from my altitude training?
- What type of course (downhill, flat, slightly hilly) will help me get to my BQ? Sometimes flat course really pound my legs and burn me out.
- Do I want a big race or a small race?
- Is running a historically significant/beautiful course more important than running the fastest course?
This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to me over thinking my next race registration but I’m still so torn. Right now I’m looking at the Colfax Marathon, the Colorado Marathon, and the Steamboat Springs Marathon.
