So I've been alluding to the fact that things have been... rough recently. Well now I can tell the full story with as close to a fairytale ending as I can get!
Let's rewind, as I may have mentioned in some of my post, I actually have been working for Disney since graduating college 3 years ago. I went to WDW on the Disney College Program (if you'd like more info, reach out!), then moved on to a Profession Internship with Design and Engineering, and then finally moved to the Bay Area to work for Disney Interactive on mobile and social games. It's been the best of times and it's been the worst of times but looking back on it all I had the most amazing experiences and I followed my dream!
After 2 years with Disney Interactive, the whole division had to make large cuts (total of 700 people were laid-off) and, well, my game team was completely eliminated. I got laid-off. I hate admitting to that, but it's true I was laid-off. I can't go into the details of it all, but it was handled fairly and I have to ill will. I do hope to get back to Disney some day, and by "hope" I mean I definitely will. :)
The only thing that rivals my passion for Disney, is my passion for running and fitness and so I started looking for opportunities in that industry. My passion for Disney introduced me to runDisney, runDisney helped me fall in love with running, Disney introduced me to the start up world in the Bay Area, and so Disney has now led me to follow my running passion professionally. Thanks Disney!
So about a month ago I sent an email to a group of people who I had been following and been supporting from the wings. Basically, I sent them an email with a coverletter and my resume hoping to get to talk to someone but with no real expectations. Well, 45 minutes later, I got a response and had a meeting set up for the next day, the next week I got to meet the team, and as of yesterday I have accepted a position with a fantastic running hardware group! They are small, fast moving, and I'm totally ready to jump into the fire and figure out where I can help fast!
The company is...
