This week was a great first week of taper! Christmas travel and easier miles meant I got to just love the run, exactly what I need right now.
Monday - Plan: 4 easy miles, Actual: 5.5 easy miles taking pics and exploring Golden Gate Park at a 9:31 min/mile pace.
Tuesday - Plan: Rest day! Merry Christmas to all!
Wednesday - Plan: 8x400m with a warmup and a cool down, Actual: ~1 mile warmup with 8x400m the first 6 were solid and were between 1:40 and 1:45 and the final 2 were 1:35, and then a little over a mile cool down. I love running flat at sea level!
Thursday - Rest day!
Friday - Plan: 5 easy miles, Actual: 5 miles at a 8:50 min/mile pace. I was still feeling the travel and holidays so I these weren’t the strongest miles but happy with this run.
Saturday - Plan: 12 easy long run miles, Actual: 12 miles at a 9:00 min/mile pace. This run felt good, I pushed it a bit but overall it felt easy and strong. Just the kind of run you want in your taper period.
Sunday - Plan: 6 easy miles, Actual: 6 miles at a 9:08 min/mile pace. My legs were feeling those 12 miles a bit more than I was hoping but got to test out a new pair of shoes which was really fun!
Total Miles: 34.2 miles
And with that my yearly total comes to… 1757 miles! Crazy! That’s my highest mileage yet and I owe it all to consistent training throughout the year. All my monthly totals were over 100 miles and I’m closing out the year adding another state to my marathon total, a new 5k PR and a new 10k PR. Not a bad year!
What was I listening to?
I’m totally Dopey Challenge/WDW Marathon Weekend obsessed right now so of course this episode by the Be Our Guest Podcast podcast was the best!
