Where Do I Begin...

...Because I've wanted to say everything at the same time.

I have so many thoughts, feelings, and emotions on so many topics that have been in the news, I don't even know where to start. Once I was getting a handle on one thing, something else happened and I had to stop.

Writing my normal blogs about running or gear seemed trivial, so I wrote nothing.

Until now.

There has been so much pain in the news. Starting with the pitiful sentencing of Brock Turner where I read more victim blaming, to the 5 bicyclists who died after being rammed into from behind my an erratic driver, to the shootings in Orlando which claimed the lives of 49 and the feeling of safety from a community, really a nation, and to the family that through a horrific accident lost their 2 year old child on a beach where you could hear the hustle and bustle of the Magic Kingdom, you are in my heart. I don't know you, but I have cried for you and I am trying to figure out what my next move is to help you.

There are so many parts to each of these which makes me what to scream, to take action, and I'm just not sure where to begin.

But I can begin with love. Love for the families, for the lives, and for those that face similar hardships that are not in the eye of the public. I send my love to you.

I know that everyone deserves love, compassion and empathy.

However, the only way things change is if we SPEAK. Staying quiet does not change a culture of hate, bigotry, and easy access to guns. A world where internet trolls can continue to spew hate and insensitivity behind a keyboard.

There are so many parts of me that want to turn into a crazy bunker dweller because people just seem awful, but squireling away won't change anything and there has been so many good people coming to help.

Send letters to your Congressman to make changes to gun laws and donate to the Florida LGBT community supporting the Pulse victims and their families.

Stop asking "what was they wearing?" when someone reports sexual violence and instead hear what they are saying and actually help.

Share the roads with bicyclists so that everyone can go home to their families.

Lead with love, listen with compassion, follow through with action.

Don't sit idly by and let another generations be brutally aware of violence and hate. Take a stand, choose your voice, and take action.

Love you all and thank you.
